Service Description
This course exposes students to the various techniques and styles of using ink on paper. By exposing ourselves to various pen nibs, brushes, paper, pens, the effects of watering down ink, and using markers - we can more easily define our style while learning techniques such as stippling, hatching, scrambling, along with others. We will also learn how to ink various textures and materials such as metal, fur, hair, and skin - along with other elements found in real life. We will study some of the examples of artists using pen and ink such as Yuko Shimizu, Alphonzo Dunn, Ed Fairburn, and more - to learn their approach, go out of their comfort zone and get messy. Materials are included and class will be at Crystal Lake Bk a local bar in Williamsburg (647 Grand st). This class will be broken down into 7 sections: Pt. 1 - Introduce Materials | 10 min Pt. 2 - Demonstrate Value in Ink | 10 min Pt. 3 - Simple Object Drawings | 30 min Pt. 4 - Working with Brush and Ink Washes | 20 min Pt. 5 - Automatic Drawing | 10 min Pt. 6 - Ink Wash Wave Drawing | 20 min Pt. 7 - Open up for Questions | 20 min Eva Redamonti is an illustrator, musician, and animator based in Queens, NY, USA.
